"Melotte 111 in Coma Berenice"

Berenice's Hair is an interesting conglomeration of stars and is itself almost an asterism. Named after Berenike, wife of King Ptolemy of Egypt it is a small constellation known for galaxies, mostly, a double star or two and an open cluster, Melotte 111.

Here we feature John Baars' lovely sketch of the cluster observed through his new 102 mm Star Travel refractor and delicately rendered by a creative and talented hand. Congratulations John on both the observation and the sketch and on winning the VROD for 4/20/2023!
