"M44 and some doubles"

Enjoying clear skies John Baars was able to get out and do some observing and sketching. The primary target was M44 the Beehive or Praesape Cluster. Using a variety of different apertures he was able to get distinct impressions of the cluster as one moved from small to large. Impressive in a wide field of view refractor he also used a bigger scope and was able to resolve more stars in the object. The other target category of the night was a variety of double stars. The takeaway from the evening was a highly impressive sketch of M44. Congratulations both on your birthday John and also on winning the VROD for the day!
