3-17-2024 TSS Visual Report of the Day.

"Observing Report for 11 March 2024 - ruffling the lion's mane"

Leo offers one of the great hunting ground for galaxies and KT4HX (Alan) was not to be denied in his quest to observe the many faint denizens of the night within its large and varied hunting grounds.

Starting quickly a host of these galaxies fell to his glass - his 17.5" Dob whose optics have served him for four decades. From his dark sky spot he racked up numerous observations of these island universes and as a special treat, observed the supernova now visible in NGC 4216 just across the border in Virgo.

With the patience and skill nearing the great heights of Herschel he had success after success, describing each of them in detail.

Congratulations Alan on a wonderful eve out under the stars and on winning today's VROD! Let's all hope he has a green beer to celebrate...
