VROD

2-27-2023 TSS Visual Report of the Day.

"report from mexico"

Today's featured report is an account of naked-eye observing down south from Cancun. Messier 111 (Jean-Yves) not only vacationed there but also was able to scan the skies with his two eyeballs. As he reports, there were far more stars visible from the beach (Bortle 5) than there are from home (Bortle 8). Orion was almost hard to locate. Also, he was able to see the large magellanic cloud and the Eta Carinae nebula as well as the primary planets. Next time he plans to bring binoculars. Congratulations Jean-Yves on winning the VROD for today!
