2-12-2023 TSS Visual Report of the Day.

"It's all about the Comets, Joint Report, Joe and Phil"

Follow along as OzEclipse (Joe) and Scribbly (Phil) describe their views of 2022 (E3) ZTF. Being positioned in Australia the comet is not too high above the horizon which makes it a bit more difficult than for those in the northern hemisphere. Starting with a pair of 10x42 binos and progessing to two 80mm refractors then Joe's 18" Dob, each instrument revealed a different bit of character in the object, but a tail-like protrusion was visible in instruments as small as 80mm. The view in the big Dob was almost "photographically" bright and very impressive. Not to be stopped with ZTF only, the pair went on to observe C/2017 K2 (Panstarrs) though it was quite faint and of "an arrow" shape. Congratulations to Joe and Phil on co-winning the VROD for the day!
