12-21-2023 TSS Visual Report of the Day.

"Observing Report for 13 December 2023 - Perseus vs Cetus, the great battle"

This morning's featured report for the Solstice is one submitted by KT4HX (Alan). With it he takes a deep dive into the environs of Cetus and Perseus hunting for galaxies with his 17.5" Dob. While visiting many for the second or third time around such as the very impressive and bright object Messier 77, most of the targets were new. Follow along with his report, which touches on the mythological themes behind these constellations while carefully and purposefully documenting the appearance of each galaxy at the eyepiece.

While observing, he noticed the odd streak of light here and there. The Geminid shower. Realizing that there was a second observational opportunity later in the morning, he turned in only to arise early in the morning to view the show from the driveway assisted by some additional layers of clothing. While watching the shower he realized that he had reached a milestone over the course of the evening, that of 5,000 DSO's observed. Indeed, this is a tremendous lifetime accomplishment. Congratulations Alan on achieving another VROD win for the Day!
