10-6-2022 TSS Visual Report of the Day.

by helicon

"Battle of Cetus"

Today's featured report is courtesy of Bigzmey (Andrey) who headed out to his dark desert site at Anza with the intention of viewing galaxies (and also Jupiter). While Jupiter was almost too close and the atmosphere choppy, a good view was not in the cards for the evening but he was able to catch a transit of Io across its surface.

Turning to galaxies he spent time in Aries going after faint and fairly obscure galaxies but since they were so faint and the sky not very transparent he only managed a couple of them. Next, he went on to the heavenly sea monster (or whale) which was turned into stone by Perseus when he held up the severed head of Medusa. Finding much more success he went from the NGC list to the IC list some cases, so definitely some very faint ones were achieved via his 9.25" Edge SCT. Overall a very successful evening given the conditions and as he remarked, each time he missed one he was more determined to catch the next object. Congratulations on the VROD for the day Andrey!
