10-3-2022 TSS Visual Report of the Day.

by helicon

"Science night in Rijswijk, Netherlands"

Today's highlighted report is brought forth by John Baars. He led a discussion on Lipperhey, inventor of the idea that ground glass pieces could be positioned one in front of the other to magnify an image. In this his creativity was unique, and John even had a young volunteer from the audience hold the lenses so that the experiment - which placed the lenses in a tube rather than being held by hand, was replicated.

Following the talk, the observatory's 14" scope was aimed at M13 and as John relates there were a variety of oohs and ahhs from those in attendance. (Approximately 40 people). Congratulations John on the successful outreach and also your interesting talk and report, winning the VROD for the day.
