10-15-2023 TSS Visual Report of the Day.

by helicon

"Observing Report: Solar Eclipse 10/14/2023" and "My Experience of the Solar Eclipse"

Today's featured report is actually two, the entries of both StarBru (Bruce) and Shelby, both of whom observed and photographed the solar eclipse that occurred yesterday. StarBru used an 80mm scope and a 120mm reflector with filters and was joined by family members and in fact, his daughter (who is expecting) was so impressed by the experience that she went into labor. Meanwhile Shelby used his Dobsonian with a filter and also greatly enjoyed the views.

Until next year's total eclipse this one is the only show in town but offered up a great opportunity to practice before next April, getting the gear ready and dusting off the solar observing and astrphotography methods. Congratulations to Bruce and Shelby, our co-winners of the VROD for the day!
