"Hunters Moon session"

Today we feature a report from bigzmey (Andrey) who ventured to his dark sky spot in the Anza desert of Southern California. Facing some cumulus clouds before dusk he waited for nightfall before they cleared away. With the nearly full moon shining, it was time to take a different tack from galaxy observing so instead he focused on double stars. Follow along as he describes his celestial adventure in Ophiuchus and Aquila, observing a large quantity of doubles.

Also, with the big planet Jupiter looking really big because of its opposition, coupled with over 300x, he observed all four main belts as well as some coloration of the north and south polar regions. A transit of Io also occured which he was able to resolve into a disk shape shadow. All in all a great night with some alternative objects. Congratulations Andrey on attaining the VROD for the day!
