"Fall Galaxies"

Today we are fortunate to be able to highlight a lengthy and thorough report from bigzmey (Andrey) mostly covering galactic observations through his 9.25" Edge from the dark skies of Anza in Southern California.

Starting with the Great Square of Pegasus, an asterism feature of four stars mostly in Pegasus but one star being both in Pegasus and Andromeda...he kicked off the effort.

The NGC 7385 Group, consisting of five members, was observed successfully and as noted, some of the members were not previously visible with an 8" SCT, illustrating that a bit more aperture and optical quality can make a difference.

Continuing in Pegasus he eventually switched over to Piscis Austrinus (The Southern Fish) and then Grus, (supposedly representing a bird - the crane - which may have been mythologically associated with the god Hermes), then Aries, followed again by a journey in Piscis Austrinus before closing out with Jupiter. Worth noting is the fact that most of these galaxies are small and dim (12th-13th magnitude) and not all observation targets yielded fruit. Congratulations on a great night out Andrey and an excellent VROD winning report!
