"Observing report for 15 January 2021 - the bonus round"

One of the great winter views is the complex of M46, an open cluster in Puppis, and a planetary nebula, NGC 2438 - both within the same field of view. Here we have an excellent description of this winter quarry from KT4X (Alan) observed back in mid-January 2021. Well-placed for observation presently, see if you can ferret out these two objects on the next clear night. Also, enjoy the chronology of observations in Puppis and Orion, including galaxies in these two constellations which are not well-known for galactic targets, but they are there nonetheless.
