VROD

1-13-2023 TSS Visual Report of the Day.

by helicon

"Dragon Cluster and Galactic Wanderer"

Well it is Friday the 13th and a good day to not let a black cat cross your path. We do feature an outstanding report from January 2022 by John Baars which is worthy of today's VROD as it can be replicated this time of the observing season. First he caught the trifecta of M36, M37, and M38 in Auriga, the Christmas Tree cluster and finally the distant globular cluster NGC 2419 in the constellation Lynx which was captured in a wonderful sketch. Being 300,000 light years away this is a great accomplishment. Now is the time to find out if you can replicate his observations this year. Congrats John on winning the the VROD for the day!
